Boca Stage Brings Fresh Laughs to Pop Culture Classic! The Ladies Shine in The Odd Couple (Female Version)
Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple has been a cultural phenomenon for decades starting with its Broadway debut in 1965, then followed by the film and TV show. But in the mid-80s, Simon decided to put a new spin on the classic hit by writing a hilarious and touching female version. This estrogen-infused comedy features an all-star cast and runs March 17-April 2, with a preview March 16. Tickets are on sale for $45, and $50 for Sunday matinees. Thursday preview, Friday and Saturday evenings are an 8 pm curtain, Saturday and Sunday matinees are 2pm. Reserve your seat at www.bocastage.net or by calling 561-300-0152.
“The transformation of Felix and Oscar into female characters opens up an entirely new realm to explore,” said Keith Garsson, Artistic Director. “I am thrilled to have an extraordinary cast tackle this fast and funny dialogue, while also delving into characters’ journeys as friends and newly single women.”
The Odd Couple (Female Version) is Neil Simon’s 1986 update of his classic New York comedy. This time, Unger and Madison are at it again, but it’s Florence Unger and Olive Madison who play the bickering roommates in this hilarious contemporary comic classic. Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Ms. Madison has invited the girls over for an evening of Trivial Pursuit. The Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the two Costazuela brothers. But the hilarity remains the same.
The cast includes Patti Gardner, Amy London, Leah Sessa, Sara Grant, Elissa Solomon, Elizabeth Price, Juan Gamero and Rio Chaverro, and the play will be directed by Garsson.
